Making your files safe

Even though your data on the CÉCI clusters are stored on arrays of redundant disks (RAID), to make them safe under some hardware failure scenarios, they are not safe against accidental deletions.

Some possible options you can take to protect your files from the latter events are:

  • keep a synchronized copy of your clusters home on your laptop, using for instance rsync or unison;
  • promptly copy output data from the cluster scratch space to mass storage;
  • use versioning for all your text files.
